We can prescribe refills for:

💡 Tip: Bring your medication box or a photo of the label — it helps the doctor find the exact equivalent in Japan. If your specific brand isn’t available here, we’ll find a suitable alternative.

Dr. Kentaro Yokota

About Your Doctor — Dr. Ken Yokota

Hi, I’m Ken — the doctor and director of this clinic. I grew up with international experience and speak English comfortably. I’ve treated hundreds of tourists visiting Hokkaido, and I understand the stress of getting sick in a foreign country.

My background is in internal medicine, with years of experience across general practice, lifestyle diseases, sports medicine, and diving medicine. I’m also a certified technical diving instructor (to 102m depth) and a Japan Sports Association-certified Sports Doctor — so if you’re an active traveler, we speak the same language.

My goal is simple: get you feeling better so you can get back to enjoying Sapporo.

Frequently Asked Questions — Sapporo Tourist Clinic

Can I see a doctor in Sapporo without Japanese insurance?

Yes. Our clinic is specifically set up for patients without Japanese health insurance. You pay directly at the time of your visit. We provide receipts and medical certificates for travel insurance reimbursement.

Do I need an appointment?

We strongly recommend contacting us via WhatsApp first so we can reserve a time for you. Same-day visits are usually available, but messaging ahead ensures a smooth experience with minimal waiting.

Can I get my home medication refilled in Japan?

Yes — but you need a prescription from a Japanese doctor. Foreign prescriptions are not accepted at Japanese pharmacies. Bring your medication packaging or a photo of the label, and we will prescribe a Japanese equivalent. Please note that some medications available overseas may not be available or may be restricted in Japan.

Where do I get my medicine after the visit?

You’ll receive a prescription and pick up your medication at a nearby pharmacy (within walking distance of the clinic). The pharmacy fee is separate from the consultation fee. We’ll point you in the right direction.

Do you issue documents for travel insurance claims?

Yes. We issue English-language medical certificates, itemized receipts, and referral letters that are accepted by international travel insurance providers.

What if my condition is too serious for a clinic?

We’ll examine you and, if necessary, refer you to an appropriate hospital in Sapporo. We will write a referral letter in English and help coordinate your next steps. In a life-threatening emergency, call 119 for an ambulance (it’s free in Japan).

What payment methods do you accept?

Cash (Japanese Yen), major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, and others), and Wise transfer. Payment is required at the time of your visit.

I’m having a medical emergency. What should I do?

Call 119 immediately. This is Japan’s ambulance number and it’s available 24/7. Ambulance service is free. When the operator answers, say “medical emergency” — English support is available. If you are not in an emergency but need medical help outside our clinic hours, contact the Sapporo Emergency Helpline: 011-272-7119 (multilingual, 24 hours).
